The Elections Petitions Tribunal in Sokoto has dismissed petitions filed by PDP and its candidates against three members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers include Bello Idris, representing Gwadabawa North, Abdullahi Garba, Gwadabawa South constituency and Abubakar Altine , Gada West Constituency.

The PDP candidates in the March 9, 2019, elections are Habibu Mu’azu Gwadabawa North Constituency, Nasiru Balarabe,Gwadabawa South Constituency and Tanimu Dangaladima,Gada West Constituency.

The petitioners alleged among others that the elections were in substantial non compliance with the electoral laws.

In its respective Judgments Friday, the tribunal dismissed the petitions for lack of merit.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Peter Akhimie Akhihiero, said the petitioners failed to prove all the allegations beyond reasonable doubts.

He awarded N20,000 cost in favour of each of the respondents.
