A tricycle operator, simply identified as IK, has allegedly beaten his female lover – a mother of two, to death in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident reportedly occurred at a guest house along CPM Street in Ogbogoro community on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

It was gathered that the suspect fled the scene after allegedly abandoning the lifeless body of the woman and their two children.

A resident of the area, Mr. Senibo, said residents were alerted at about 7am when the lifeless body of a woman and two young girls, aged below six, were discovered inside a stationary tricycle parked along the street.

He said operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division were immediately notified and they arrived at the scene shortly after.

“The older child was questioned by the police, and she disclosed how her father used an object to beat their mother at a guest house where they had lodged on Monday night,” he said.

The child further alleged that after the woman became weak and could no longer stand or speak, the suspect drove them out of the guest house, abandoned the children and their mother’s body inside the tricycle, and fled.

Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe Kaborlo, said operatives had intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect.

She said the Ozuoba Police Division received a distress call from a passerby who saw two children and a woman appearing lifeless inside a blue tricycle parked by the roadside.

“The patrol team swiftly moved to the scene, where officers found the lifeless body of a woman and two children aged about five years and six months respectively,” she said.

According to her, the five-year-old child told police that her father assaulted her mother during the night, leaving her critically injured.

She added that the suspect later rushed the victim to an undisclosed hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

The police spokesperson said the deceased’s sister has identified the body, while the remains have been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and further investigation.

She also confirmed that the children have been handed over to their maternal relatives, while efforts continue to apprehend the suspect.
