A Kwara State magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday ordered the remand of three persons for gang raping an 18-year-old woman.

The suspects, Boluwatife Oluyemi (23), Samuel David (23) and Kudus Waheed (18), were arraigned before Magistrate Adam Mohammed on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and rape.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim (name withheld) reported that while she was on her way to visit her friend, a tricycle rider, later identified as Boluwatife Oluyemi, stopped by her and told her to enter his tricycle but that she declined.

The FIR reads further: “While Oluyemi was trying to force the victim to enter the tricycle, the other suspects, Samuel David and Kudus Waheed, came and joined him, forced her into the tricycle and zoomed off.

“The suspects later forced the victim to take some tablets which made her sleep off after which she later woke up experiencing pain in her private part and stomach.”

The Magistrate, Mohammed, ordered their remand and adjourned to October 18.
