A police Sergeant, Samuel Phillips, who shot dead one 18-year-old girl, Monsurat Ojuade, in Lagos would face murder charge after he had been tried and dismissed from the force.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who made this disclosure when he paid a condolence visit to the parents of the deceased, said the policeman has been identified and is currently being detained.

The sergeant, along with a team of policemen had allegedly stormed Ijeshatedo area of Lagos on Sunday to effect the arrest of a suspect when he shot dead the girl.
Presenting a letter of condolence to the family, the Commissioner reassured them that justice would be served.
