Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have ambushed convoys of suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State, killing six while others escape with gun shots wounds.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred in Kayamla Village of the local government, with some items recovered from the insurgents.

A security source said the troops received credible intelligence which resulted in the neutralization of the insurgents.

“Troops of Operations Hadin Kai killed seven insurgents in an ambushed, others fled with gunshot wounds in Kayamla village,” the source said.

Corroborating the account, Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad, said the terrorists were those escaping from massive military onslaught in Boko Haram enclaves.

It was learnt that troops of 73 Battalion in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force conducted a successful ambush.

Sources said the terrorists usually come to the areas to terrorise farmers and sometimes kidnap locals.

Makama said the troops had intensified its offensives against the terrorists, their collaborators and logistics.

He said, “The theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF) North East OPHK, Maj Gen Christopher Musa, has praised the troops for their gallantry in the operation, and charged troops of Operation Hadin Kai to stand up to their responsibility as defenders of the country by neutralising every terrorist in the North East without mercy.”
