Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV, maintaining peace in Plateau, and some parts of Bauchi and Southern Kaduna, have arrested a dealer and distributor of guns and ammunition in Southern Kaduna.
Captain Oya James, the spokesperson of the operation, disclosed in a statement made available to Journalists in Jos, saying one of the suspects was a notorious arms dealer who had engaged in the business of arms and ammunition.
According to the spokesperson, “On 22 October 2023, troops arrested a suspected arms dealer and member of a criminal courier network, Zaharadeen Lukman also known as Dandini at Ashawuce village in Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State.
“The suspect, before his arrest, had been declared wanted for arms dealing in the Southern Kaduna area. The suspect is being profiled for further action. Similarly, on 23 October 2023, troops arrested Mr Lawal Suleiman, member of a gunrunning syndicate specialized in illegal distribution of arms and ammunition to criminals in Southern Kaduna. The suspect was arrested at Tagama checkpoint Samaru in Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State, “ Captain James said.

Between October 22 and 29, the spokesperson of the Operation said a total of 34 suspects were arrested out of which seven were suspected kidnappers, four suspected gunrunners and three were arrested in connection with attacks on villages.
