The Nigerian Army yesterday said that troops of Mobile Strike Team II deployed in Kaduna have arrested a notorious gun runner and recovered two AK-47 assault rifles with 38 rounds of 7.62mm special cartridges.
A statement from the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, added that the arrest was made while the troops were on a clearance operation at a suspected armed bandits’ hideout in Rigachikun general area of Kaduna State on March 19, 2018.
Chukwu said due to the criminal activities taking place at Rigachikun forest and its environ, the army started conducting high surveillance in the general area to deny the criminals the freedom to operate.
He said, “The successes recorded so far are from proactive measures taken by the Army to dominate the general area and fish out criminals carrying out kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling.”
