Troops intercept 15 suspected militias in Plateau
Troops from the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), a unit dedicated to restoring peace and harmony in Plateau State, have arrested 15 suspected armed militia men. The arrests were made during a joint operation around Jamrop village in the Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of the state.
The troops reported that they also recovered arms and ammunition during the operation, adding that the action is part of their efforts to frustrate criminal elements in the general Qua’an Pan area.
According to the Operation’s spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, the arrests were made during offensive operations conducted on September 19, 2025.
This, he said, followed credible intelligence on the activities of armed militias who had burned huts at Jamrop village.

He added that the arrested suspects and recovered items are in the custody of the Operation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing militia members.
He stressed that troops from the 3 Division/JTF OPEP are redoubling their efforts and improving operational awareness to secure the Joint Operations Area and halt the activities of criminal individuals whose identities must be exposed for further action.
