Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have struck a significant blow against Boko Haram and ISWAP networks by intercepting a massive consignment of arms, explosives, and medical supplies in Yobe State.
According to Lt-Col. Sani Uba, spokesperson of Operation Desert Sanity IV, the breakthrough followed a coordinated stop-and-search operation along the Gashua–Nguru Road, close to the border with the Niger Republic.
Acting on intelligence, soldiers halted a red and an unmarked truck on September 16 and uncovered a hidden stock of 700 bags of fertilizer carefully concealed beneath bundles of fabrics.
The chemical, security sources said, is often diverted by terrorists for the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The troops also recovered 27 cartons of assorted drugs and nine cartons of saline solution, suspected to have been intended for treating injured fighters in border communities such as Machina, Yusufari and Yunusari.
Uba described the operation as “a major breakthrough in dismantling the supply lifeline of insurgents,” noting that choking off these logistics would weaken the ability of terrorist cells to regroup or sustain attacks in the region.
