Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two Nigerian Immigration Service officers abducted in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The victims, identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were freed Friday after a coordinated search-and-rescue mission by the troops.
Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, said in a statement on Saturday that the operation followed credible intelligence on the officers’ abduction.
He explained that the troops swiftly moved into Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village in Azendeshi Council Ward, where the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled.

“The rescued officers are in safe custody of the troops and are receiving preliminary medical attention and debriefing,” the statement added.
Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, commended the soldiers for their professionalism and quick response.
He stressed that the operation reflected the resolve of OPWS to safeguard lives, protect farmers, and bolster food security across Benue and neighbouring states.
Gara also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that strong collaboration with communities was key to tackling criminality.
