Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security task force maintaining peace in Plateau, on Tuesday, said it killed two suspected bandits and recovered arms and ammunition at Teng Mountain/Forest in Qua’an-Pan LGA of Plateau State.

Daily Trust reports that Qua’an-Pan is one of the LGAs in southern Plateau that have been suffering from banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery in recent times.

Major Samson Zhakom, OPSH’s spokesman, disclosed the latest development on Tuesday, stating that the successful neutralisation operation resulted from sustained offensive actions against criminals operating within the joint operations area of the OPSH.

He said troops “On 12 May 2025, conducted an intelligence-based raid operation at suspected bandits’ hideouts.

“During the operation, troops made contact with the criminals and overwhelmed them with superior firepower. In the process, troops neutralised two bandits. Further exploitation of the hideout led to the recovery of the following items, including one AK-47 rifle.

“One AK-47 magazine,  one fabricated rifle which fires 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, seven rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, four mobile phones, two motorcycles and a cash sum of N157,000.“

Major Zhakom said the recovered mobile phones are undergoing examination to aid in tracking and apprehending other members of the criminal syndicate.

He assured the public that Operation SAFE HAVEN remains committed to combating the activities of dangerous criminals within its area of operation, urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing valuable information.
