Three suspected bandits have been shot dead during a raid on their hideout in Nasarawar Azzara-Dogon-Fili community in Katari in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A resident, Saleh Kabiru, while speaking with our reporter on Tuesday, said the operation was carried out on Sunday when the troops, alongside vigilantes, stormed the bandits’ hideout in a forest.
He explained that the troops were trailing bandits who abducted the three children of a medical doctor three weeks ago when the encountered the bandits which resulted to exchange of gunshots.
He said, “Some of the bandits took positions and hid on top of trees while the troops were advancing towards their hideout and opened fire on the troops. In the ensuing gun fight, three of the bandits were killed.
“The bandits divided themselves into three groups after they got information that troops were coming. They blocked the troops on the way and relocated the victims.”

City & Crime also gathered that two bandits’ informants were apprehended in Katari on the same day by the troops when they went to the market to buy foodstuffs and drugs for bandits.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, SP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the incident.
