Troops of the 93 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have in Takum, Taraba State, arrested a suspected criminal informant who was trying to identify someone to be eliminated by criminals in a vehicle in the state. 

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, in a statement yesterday said the troops made the arrest during operation Ayem Akpatuma in the state.

He added that the suspect was heard by a commuter along Takum-Chanchangi road talking to one Malam Musa Ibrahim to identify the person to be eliminated for reasons best known to him. 

Chukwu said the information was secretly revealed to the troops who trailed the vehicle and arrested the informant.

The statement reads in part: “During interrogation the suspect confessed to being an informant to criminals in the general area who were perpetrating criminal activities.

“The suspect is presently in the army custody undergoing interrogation.”

In a related development, Chukwu said troops of 72 Special Forces Battalion while on patrol within Gbajimba, Kaseyo and Adagu communities in Benue State, destroyed some herdsmen militia camps abandoned by criminals. 

He added that one motorcycle was recovered from the camp during the operation.

He said troops of 101 Special Forces Battalion also carried out a clearance operation at some identified armed robbers and kidnappers hideouts in Shaka, Ananum and Donga settlements of Taraba State.

The troops recovered one wooden gun with the shape of an AK 47 rifle at Shaka village during a search.
