Troops of the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State have recovered 500 goats from members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
It was learnt that the rescue operation which involved a brief gun battle between the troops and the suspected ISWAP led to the death of some of the rustlers.

A source said a Save Our Soul message was sent to the Theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Chris Musa, by the affected herders, alerting him of the said goat rustling.
“The soldiers went after the rustlers and intercepted them somewhere not far away from the popular Cashew Plantation and engaged them until five of them were gunned down while others fled and left the goats,” the security source said.
