Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 48 kidnapped victims after repelling a bandit attack on Magami village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation followed a distress call received by troops of Sector 2 in the early hours of Sunday, indicating that scores of armed terrorists riding about 40 motorcycles had stormed the community and abducted several residents.

A statement by the information officer of the OPFY Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the assailants had rounded up the victims and were preparing to move them into the bush, while another group remained on the outskirts of the village with the motorcycles.

The information officer further said all 48 kidnapped civilians were rescued during the operation.

However, one civilian was killed during the attack, while two others sustained gunshot injuries and were evacuated to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for treatment.
