It was a gory sight yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, when a Volvo truck crushed a commercial motorcyclist rider and a passenger to death.
The accident occurred at Obantoko, opposite Nawar-ud-Deen Secondary School, in the Abeokuta metropolis about 1pm.
Our correspondent learnt that the motorcyclist, while on motion, was exchanging pleasantries with a colleague in the opposite direction of the road when he lost control of the Boxer motorcycle marked ABG 413 VR.
The truck, which was coming behind the motorcycle, ran over it, killing the two occupants on the spot.
The spokesman of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident, said the driver of the truck bolted.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the remains of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, while the motorcycle had been taken to the Obantoko police station.
