A trailer loaded with bags of rice crushed one Usman Salakani on Thursday at the Post Office area in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Many residents of the area who witnessed the incident could not stand the sight of the victim whose head was crushed beyond recognition.
A resident said, “The driver of the trailer refused to stop, but was intercepted at Pipeline junction near Offa Garage and was seriously beaten and the truck destroyed.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
According to its spokesman, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the victim was trying to get money from the driver of the trailer.
Mr Afolabi said, “The incident occurred around 10am. We learnt the victim was also a trailer driver and was trying to collect money from the truck driver when his foot slipped off the vehicle and he was crushed to death by the rear tyre of the truck.”
