Truck rams into cars, okada, kill one in Gwarinpa

A truck has rammed into three vehicles and two commercial tricycles popularly called Keke NAPEP killing  one person in Gwarinpa. 

The driver attributed the accident to brake failure. 

A police source said the accident occurred at about 12 noon on Wednesday when the truck driver, driving towards Third Avenue Junction from Mr Biggs axis, lost control of the vehicle and swerved into a shopping plaza by the roadside. 

The source said the vehicles and Keke NAPEP where parked when the truck rammed into them. 

City News learnt that the Tipper with registration number XA 335 QUP injured one of the tricycles’ passengers who later died while receiving treatment at hospital. 

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident. 

“As a result of the accident, one Lawan Garba of Kado Biko sustained serious injury and was rushed to Federal Staff Clinic where he died while receiving treatment,” he said. 

He said the truck driver, Ali Abdullahi, has been arrested. 

Sabo said the driver attributed the accident to  brake failure but preliminary investigations revealed that he was on speed when the accident happened. 

“The driver is in our custody and investigation is ongoing,” he said.
