Burkina Faso’s hopes of getting to the semi-final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations may be dimmed as they face Tunisia today at Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua.
The West Africans got their tournament underway with a 2-1 loss in the hands of host nation Cameroon in the opening game on January 9, before narrowly ending out Cape Verde 1-0 four days later, courtesy of Hassane Bande’s first half strike.
Burkina Faso picked up four points from nine available but finished runners-up in Group A, three points off first-placed Cameroon and level on points with Cape Verde, who secured qualification as one of the four best third-placed sides.
Les Etalons then needed penalties to see off a spirited Gabon side in the round of 16 when the sides squared off at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium last Sunday.
But today, they go against Tunisia after remaining unbeaten in all but one of their last 10 games across all competitions, claiming four wins and five draws.
In the same vein, fresh from defeating the tournament favourites, Nigeria, Tunisia will be buoyed by their victory over the Super Eagles
