Head of Mission, Embassy of Tunisia in Nigeria, Hattab Haddaoui, stated this in an interview with Daily Trust in Abuja.
He said a delegation from Nigeria is going to Tunisia to learn how to fight desertification in order to protect other plots of agricultural land from being eaten up by the desert.
“They will be understudying the Tunisian example about what they did to check desertification. Also, there is exchange of experiences between the governments on how they are developing the agriculture sector,” he said.
The envoy said Tunisia has a well-developed system of agricultural mechanisation and diversified range of products which Nigeria can benefit from.
Haddaoui also said the Tunisian government has a well-articulated farming training programme for youths and young agriculture engineers where plots of land are given to them in order to encourage them to develop their own businesses.
