A notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji was in the news this week following the imposition of a N30 million levy on a community in Zamfara.

Residents of Moriki town in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State were in fear as the deadline given them by notorious bandit kingpin, Turji, to pay an imposed N30m levy expired on Wednesday.

The bandit kingpin, in a viral video imposed the N30 million levy on the community, following the killing of over 100 cows belonging to him by the military some weeks ago.

Turji had earlier demanded that the community pays him N50 million, but later reduced it to N30 million.

An indigene of the town, Abdullahi Moriki, said people of the community have been sourcing for the money to pay the bandits leader.

Meanwhile, more soldiers have been deployed to Moriki town, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, as the deadline elapses for the payment of N30 million levy.

Locals in the area confirm that more soldiers have arrived in the vicinity.

This is as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, had earlier vowed to ensure the notorious terrorist kingpin, Bello Turji, is captured soon.

Musa, who gave the assurance while briefing journalists on the military‘s operations across the country on Tuesday in Abuja, said Turji’s days were numbered.

The military chief said that the troops were going after the terrorist, adding that his capture was imminent even though it might take time.
