The country’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mustafa Pulat told newsmen in Abuja on Monday that this will help curtail the problem in the area especially the humanitarian situation.
He said once a long term strategy is agreed upon, Turkey will discuss any joint effort with her allies and friends.
Pulat pointed out that what is needed in the Middle East is a long term strategy to avoid moving in vicious cycles.
The envoy also spoke about the situation in Ayn al Arab or Kobani, Syria, noting that despite Turkey’s efforts at helping in the refugee situation, there has been unfair and selective criticism in some international news media about Turkey’s stance.
He said Turkey has a deep tradition of welcoming all peoples of the world and presently has about 1.5 million Syrian refugees with 200.000 of them living in camps while others are in the cities.
“Turkey is already providing humanitarian help to all Syrian refugees, regardless of their sect, religion or ethnic background. Turkey spent more than 3.5 billion US dollars to satisfy the needs of the Syrian refugees. The biggest help is hosting the refugees, including 200.000 of them from Ayn al Arab/Kobani.
While we are doing all of this, we are being unfairly criticized or underappreciated by some circles and media outlets for not helping enough to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Ayn al Arab/Kobani, a sister organization of the terrorist group PKK, which has been involved in a terror campaign against Turkey. It should be remembered that these organizations also collaborated with the regime in Damascus.” he said. Besides, Ambassador Pulat said Turkey is one of the worst affected countries from the crisis, but said Turkey is strong enough to counter any threat.
Ambassador Pulat noted that the condition in Syria has pushed the people into extreme living conditions with millions of refugees moving into Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and other countries.
He said that Turkey is one of the countries bearing most of the burden in the region. However, due to a selective approach of some circles and media outlets, presentation of what is actually going on the ground is reflected in a falsified way.
