Turkish Airlines has clinched the prestigious Guinness World Records title for flying to the most countries by any airline.

The airline known for its unparalleled network and commitment to connecting the world achieved the milestone in the aviation industry.

The record certificate was presented at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport following the airlines’ inaugural flight to Chile with representative from Turkish Airlines and Guinness World Records officials in attendance.

With an expansive route map that spans continents, the airline was evaluated based on its flight routes to 120 countries around the world and its expansion to other routes, making it have a total of 131 countries in flight network as compare to industry peers.

With its strong presence in Nigeria, operating from Lagos and Abuja, Turkish Airlines has played a pivotal role in connecting Nigerians and the broader African continent to the rest of the world.

In his remark to the feat, Bilal Ekşi, the chief executive officer of Turkish airlines, expressed exitement on the achievement recorded, adding that it serves as a powerful example for airlines in Nigeria’s local market, highlighting the importance of strategic expansion, connectivity, and customer-centric innovation.

“We are delighted to be in Santiago, Chile, our newest route launched today, and to receive the Guinness World Records title for the Most Countries Flown to by an Airline. As the only airline to hold this distinction for over a decade, we proudly showcase the strength of our flight network and reinforce our mission to connect people, cultures, and destinations around the globe,” he said.

He added that it would continue to prioritise robust route development and foster cultural and economic ties through aviation.
