In a continued effort to deepen intercultural dialogue and strengthen bilateral understanding, Turkish Coffee Talks convened diplomats, cultural stakeholders, and tourism advocates in Abuja for an engaging session focused on shared experiences and collaboration between Nigeria and Türkiye.

The highlight of the gathering was the participation of Adefunke Oni, Global Ambassador of the African Tourism Board, who served as the programme’s inaugural guest speaker.

Over cups of traditional Turkish coffee a centuries old symbol of hospitality and meaningful conversation Ambassador Oni reflected on her encounters with Turkish culture, offering personal insights into the country’s traditions, people, and tourism landscape. Her thoughtful responses to questions about Türkiye sparked dynamic exchanges that underscored shared values and mutual aspirations between both nations.

Hosted by the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre, the event reinforced the growing role of cultural institutions in advancing soft diplomacy.

Director Fatih Erkin Mahdum and his team were commended for establishing a platform that transcends formal diplomatic engagement, creating space for authentic human connection and cultural appreciation.

Participants described the session as both enlightening and forward-looking, emphasizing the critical role of tourism and culture in fostering economic cooperation, strengthening people-to-people ties, and promoting mutual respect.
