The police have arrested two young men over alleged murder of a 25-year-old man, Friday Isah, in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued in Yola at the weekend.
He said the incident stemmed from a disagreement during a birthday party, which led to the victim being stabbed.
Nguroje identified the suspects as Samson Elisha, 19, of Giye Digil, and Ayuba Stephen, 21, of Dagala-Digil, both in Mubi North LGA.
He said they are currently in custody, while investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the killing of a 25-year-old man, Friday Isah, in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
“The incident occurred during a birthday party at Digil Ward, where the suspects allegedly stabbed the victim and fled the scene.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene and conveyed the victim to a medical facility for treatment. Unfortunately, he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“The suspects have since been arrested, while investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemned the incident and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution.
The command also urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
