Two drivers have died in separate accidents which occurred at different locations in Abaji, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

One of the drivers  identified as Saka Otaru, lost his life after a Jeep he was driving crashed at Manderegi village, near Abaji, on Thursday afternoon.

Our reporter learnt that two others inside the Jeep sustained injuries and were evacuated by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to hospital.

A witness said the accident happened at about 1:38pm when their Land Rover Jeep with registration number RBC 18 JW had a tyre burst, tumbled and crashed in a ditch.

He said the driver died on the spot while two others sustained injuries.

It was gathered that the occupants of the Jeep were travelling from Isanlu in Kogi State to Jos, Plateau State when the accident happened.

When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC), Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the accident, which he attributed to tyre burst, loss of control and speed limit violation.

He said the driver’s corpse had been deposited at Abaji General Hospital, while the two injured passengers were taken to hospital for treatment.

He added that a middle aged truck driver also died on the same day in another accident which occurred at Abaji roundabout.

According to him, the accident happened at about 6:36pm involving a Mark truck with registration number XA 581 MGR.

He said the driver lost control while on top speed and crashed into a ditch, saying his remains had been deposited at Abaji General Hospital.

The FRSC commander attributed the accident to dangerous driving, speed limit violation and loss of control.
