Two persons, one a pedestrian, have died in separate accidents that happened in Gwarinpa, Abuja. 

A source at the Gwarinpa Police Station said in one of the accidents, a pedestrian was knocked down by a Toyota RAV4 jeep while he was trying to cross the road at Third Avenue. 

The source said the identity of the pedestrian who died while receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, could not be immediately verified because he did not carry any means of identification and the phone he was carrying was locked. 

In the other accident in which two vehicles had a head on collision, one of the drivers died on the spot. 

The accident happened at about 8pm on Thursday on Gwarinpa bypass involving two motorists driving from Life Camp roundabout and Kubwa Expressway. 

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incidents. 

He said the motorists involved in both accidents were in custody while the relatives of the deceased pedestrian have picked the corpse from the National Hospital mortuary. 

On the second accident, he said, “One of the drivers died on the spot, and the corpse was taken to the National Hospital mortuary while the other driver is in our custody.”
