Two men accused of armed robbery remanded in prison

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court in Oyo State has ordered the remand of two men at Agodi prison over alleged armed robbery.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr O. Adisa, said Ibrahim Abubakar, 22, and Amodu Janyu, 20, should be held at Agodi prison pending advice by the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Adisa, who did not take their pleas, thereafter, adjourned the case till April 19, for mention.

Earlier, Police prosecutor, Opeyemi Olagunju, had told the court that Abubakar and Janyu, with others now at large, conspired to commit the offence.

Olagunju said, “the defendants while armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons allegedly attacked one Pereku Yokosi, and inflicted severe machete cuts on his body.

“The duo of Abubakar and Janyu allegedly dispossessed Yokosi of his Itel cell phone, valued at N10,000 and his Bajaj motorcycle worth N220, 000, ” said the prosecutor.(NAN)
