Two men in trouble over assault on Ikeja electricity distribution officer

Two persons, including a driver, were yesterday dragged before a magistrate court in Lagos sitting at Ojudu over alleged assault occasioning harm.

The accused persons, Olayinka Oseni, 47, and 25-year-old Akinbile Akeem, were alleged to have conspired to commit the offences on August 26, 2019 at about 5pm at No 7, Olatunji Street, Ketu, Lagos.

The police alleged that the two men wilfully obstructed a staff member of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company who were executing their lawful duty.

It was alleged that the accused persons unlawfully assaulted the Ikeja Disco staffer, Awesu Kareem, by using sticks and fists to hit him all over his body, which caused him bodily harm.

The case could, however not go on as the magistrate was not in court for their arraignment.

Further hearing has been fixed for today when the two men are expected to be arraigned.
