2 nabbed with fake anti-malaria drugs in Kano

Two suspected drug peddlers have been arrested in Kano by customs’ strike force Zone B in connection to the smuggling of over 35 cartons of fake anti malaria drugs.

The Deputy Comptroller General of custom O.A Olorukuba who is in charge of the operation while displaying the seized drugs did not give the names of the suspects but said they are presently on administrative bail.

According to him, the drugs are neither registered nor having NAFDAC certification saying that they pose great risk to the health of people if consumed”

The drugs are among the several other items confiscated by the strike force within three weeks of its operation in Kano.

He listed other items to include, 268 bales of second hand clothes, 53 kegs of 25liter of vegetable oil, 205 50 bags of foreign rice as well as 95 cartoons of spaghetti. The total duty paid value of the seized items was put at N24.3m.

He warned smugglers to stay clear of the state and get another means of livelihood as men of customs along side sister agencies are on ground to enforce compliance to bring smuggling to the barest minimal level. ‎
