The Kano State Fire Service on Friday said it recorded two rescue incidents in Kumbotso and Warawa Local Government Areas of the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the emergencies occurred between 7:06 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. after distress calls were received at the control room.
He explained that the first incident happened at Samegu by El-Sadeeq Bread in Kumbotso LGA, where a man, estimated to be about 40 years old, fell into a well.
The PRO said, “Firefighters from the state headquarters rescued him unconscious and handed him over to the Divisional Crime Officer of Panshekara Police Division, Salisu Salihu, for further investigation.

The second incident occurred at Madarin Taba Village in Warawa LGA.
Abdullahi said a 32-year-old woman, identified as Maimuna Shitu, and her 18-month-old son, Harisu Muntari, were found inside a well.
“According to her father, the woman had been suffering from mental illness. Both victims were rescued unconscious and handed over to the Ward Head, Yusuf Surajo, and the woman’s father, Muhammad Shitu,” the Pro added.
He said the causes of the incidents are under investigation.
Yusif also disclosed that the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, appealed to residents to ensure that wells are properly covered to prevent similar occurrences.
