Two rescued, many trapped in Lagos fresh building collapse

Many people are presently feared trapped under the rubbles of a collapsed building at Ajiran-Ikate, area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. 
 
The one storey building is said to be undergoing construction.
 
It is believed that many workers are trapped under the rubbles most of whom are menial labourer and food sellers.
 
However, two persons have been pulled out of the collapsed building alive by rescue workers hours after the incident occurred and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospitals.
 
Voices of those still trapped under the rubbles calling for help were heard.
 
"Many of them are calling for help while informing the public that they were still alive," a woman known as the Olori of Ajiran said.
 
Some of the worker who escaped by the whiskers were crying and showing rescuers round where majority of the workers were last seen.
 
One of the workers put the figure of those who might still be trapped between 10 and 15.
 
Residents claimed that the decking of the building may have been weakened by Monday’s heavy down pour.
 
The Public Relations of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in the South-West Region, Ibrahim Farinloye who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust via text messages, said only two persons have been rescued from the site of the collapsed house.
 
He said efforts were currently ongoing to ensure that those still trapped were rescued.
 
He however could not confirm the number of persons still trapped.
