Two research institutes get seed cleaners

Two seed cleaner machines have been procured for the Lake Chad Agricultural Research Institute, Maiduguri, Borno State, and the Institute for Agricultural Research, Zaria, in Kaduna State.
The two machines were procured by International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)/SARD-SC project. The equipment sorts, grades and treats viable wheat, rice and maize seeds for planting.
A statement issued by the IITA, said the machines were assembled in IITA, Ibadan, Oyo State, under the supervision of personnel from the manufacturing company in India, with the assistance of IITA staff.
Six engineers, three each from the two institutes, were trained on the use and maintenance of the machines.
