Two youths remanded for allegedly raping a teenager

A magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, at the weekend remanded two apprentices, Olupina Dotun, 20, and Babalola Olaniyi, 19, in prison custody for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, told the court that Dotun and Olaniyi committed the offences on August 27, 2019 at Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State.
Leranmo alleged that the accused persons conspired to rape the girl, (names withheld) when she came to visit her boyfriend in his house.
The prosecutor noted that the two youths sent the girl’s boyfriend, who happened to be their friend, away and raped the girl.
He pointed out that he had duplicated their case file and sent it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The magistrate, Ade Lawal, remanded the accused persons in prison custody pending the determination of the case from the DPP’s office and adjourned the case till September 18, 2019 for mention.
