U.S. condemns bomb attacks in Lake Chad Basin region

The United States has condemned the recent terrible attacks believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents in the Lake Chad Basin region, comprising Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. 
Over 70 people were killed and more than 100 injured in multiple bomb attacks in Adamawa and Borno States between Sunday and Monday. In Cameroon, three suicide bombers blew themselves up on Saturday and Monday in northern region, injuring three people.
US, in a statement by its Embassy in Abuja, said: “We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and we stand with the people of the Lake Chad Basin region in the fight against Boko Haram.”
The statement said: “Despite much progress over the past year-due in large part to newly bolstered Nigerian and regional efforts-more work remains to ensure the people of Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria can live in peace.”
United States promised to continue working with the authorities in the region to identify new opportunities to support their efforts to stop Boko Haram’s wanton violence and restore order.
