Governor Uba Sani has commended the partnership between Kaduna State and the World Health Organisation(WHO) saying it has improved immunization coverage, enhanced prevention and control disease outbreaks.
The Governor who made the remarks when the State WHO Team, paid him an advocacy visit at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, further noted that the partnership has also enhanced its surveillance systems and continues to promote universal health coverage in Kaduna State.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, he added that “the technical and operational support provided by the WHO team has helped us respond swiftly and effectively to challenges, from polio eradication to addressing endemic and epidemic diseases.’’
Dr Balarabe said that the visit “provides an opportunity to deepen collaboration, align priorities, and jointly explore new strategies to address the persistent and emerging health needs of our communities.”
“We are especially keen to strengthen local capacity, ensure sustainability of health interventions, and reach underserved populations,’’ the Deputy Governor further said.
The Deputy Governor who is also a medical doctor, affirmed that Kaduna State is “committed to investing in the health and well-being of our people.’’
“Through strategic reforms and infrastructure development, we have expanded access to primary health care, improved maternal and child health services, and strengthened the state’s disease surveillance architecture.
“However, we recognize that more work is needed to achieve resilient, equitable, and people-centered healthcare delivery,’’ Dr Balarabe admitted.
While thanking WHO for its continuous support to Kaduna State and Nigeria at large in advancing public health, strengthening health systems, and responding to emergencies, she promised Kaduna State’s commitment to a robust partnership.
According to the Dr Balarabe, the state will ‘’create an enabling environment for your work and ensure that our shared goals translate into tangible improvements in health outcomes across the state.’’
