Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has said that no Nigerian President has supported governors like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor’s comment is coming in the wake of the wave of endorsement of the president by several governors in the country including those from opposition parties.
Speaking at the opening session of a two-day interactive forum on government-citizen engagement, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) at Arewa House, Kaduna, Sani said it will be difficult for the governors to oppose Tinubu.
The event, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity,” brought together government officials, civic actors, and policy stakeholders to deliberate on accountability and public service delivery.
President Tinubu was represented at the forum by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
According to Sani, “No president in Nigeria’s history has supported governors and sub-national governments the way President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently doing. As a result, it is unlikely that any governor in Nigeria would go against the president.”
The Kaduna governor further disclosed that, for the first time in Nigeria’s political history, the federal government is engaging non-state actors in the North to address longstanding security and developmental challenges.
“This unprecedented approach reflects a shift in how national issues are being addressed,” he said.
Established in 2009, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation is a non-political and non-religious organisation set up to preserve the legacy of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and to promote development and leadership excellence in the region.
