Ngala was the first chairman of Ngala local government area in 1976. He had served in 1991 as member of the state executive council under Alhaji Ashek Jarma before he was appointed to serve as commissioner of Finance through out Governor Ali Modu Sheriff’s first tenure from 2003 to 2007.

According government statement announcing his death, “He was known to be a reserved and peace loving person who was never known for any misconduct while in the discharge of his duties as public office holder.”

Governor Sheriff speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Shehu Liberty said he received the news about the sudden death of Ngala with shock but with total submission to the will of Allah. Sheriff described the late Modu as a gentle man who gave selfless commitment in the discharge of his duties. He prayed that Allah admits the late UBEB chairman into aljanna firdaus and grant his familythe fortitude to bear what he called a big loss to them and the entire state.

Borno deputy governor, Adamu Shettima Dibal along with other top government officials in the state attended his funeral.

The late Modu Kolo Ngala was born in 1950. He hailed from Ngala local government area of Borno state.
