‘Satans and Shaitans,’ Obinna Udenwe’s debut novel hits the Nigerian book market this week.
AMAB Publishing, a new company in Nigeria, has acquired the rights to publish the book in the country. This is coming after countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States of America and a few other European countries have had access to the novel.
Speaking to Daily Trust, the author expressed his delight at the development, stating optimism that the Nigerian version will be better. “It’s our story,” he said, adding that it is not right that “our people have not been able to read it.”
The novel is a crime fiction story that beams its searchlight on terrorism and creates a solution pathway for many religious and socio-political problems in Nigeria.
‘Satans and Shaitans’ was first published in London by Jacaranda Books in 2014 and Nigerians have only had access to it online.
Udenwe is a prolific short story writer. He won the 2009 National Top12 Award and the 2012 African International Achievers Award. In 2014 he was honoured with the award of the ‘State Literary Icon’ by the Governor of Ebonyi State.
