Ugochinyere mourns Lagbaja, wishes new Army Chief successful tenure

The Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources, Downstream, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has expressed sadness over the death of Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

According to a statement released by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, Lagbaja passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness.

Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North South Federal Constituency, in condolence message said Lt. Gen. Lagbaja death is a great loss to the nation, as he was a leader who dedicated his life to serving and protecting the country.

He recalled how the late Lt. Gen. played crucial roles in numerous security operations, including Operation Udoka in Southeast Nigeria, and Operation Forest Sanity across Kaduna and Niger States.

The Lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolences to his family, the Nigerian Army, and the entire Nigerian Armed Forces.

While praying for the repose of Lagbaja’s soul, He prayed that God will grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Ugochinyere wished the acting Chief of Army Staff, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede a successful tenure, urging him to continue the good works of his predecessor started in ensuring that the nation is safe and at peace.
