The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi winner of the gubernatorial election held on Saturday.

Ugwuanyi polled 482, 277 votes to defeat his main opponent, Chief Okey Ezea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 43,839 votes, according to Prof. Hilary Edoga, the returning officer, who announced the result at INEC secretariat, Enugu on Sunday.   

But the APC in the state called for the cancellation of the governorship election in the state, describing it as a sham.
