Students at the University of Ibadan have staged a protest over rationing of power supply and a hike in school fees.
The protest disrupted smooth vehicular movements within the campus and crippled academic activities.
The protesters led by Student Union Government kicked against the introduction of a 10-hour daily electricity supply on campus which took effect from Tuesday.
In his address, the SUG President, Comrade Aweda Damilola, noted that the protest was aimed at achieving three results: withdrawal of the memo on electricity rationing and provision of constant electricity in the campus, total reversal of the hike in school fees and an end to the victimisation of three students who protested on May 13, 2024.

Our correspondent observed that students barricaded the school gates and major roads within the campus as early as 07.30 am on Wednesday.
Vehicular activities were totally halted as the commercial transport operators on the campus complied with the SUG directive.
Although students were seen trekking to different departments and classes within the school, academic activities were disrupted as students at the Faculty of Education, Arts, Social Sciences and others were chased out of the classrooms.
