UK to set up cities network center at ABU

The United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) has planned to domicile its funded Nigeria Resilient Cities Network Centre at the Ahmadu Bello University’s (ABU) Centre for Spatial Information Sciences (CSIS).
The decision was earlier communicated to the Vice Chancellor through a letter signed by the worksteam leader of the Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), Mr Mike Mutter, a source said.
Mutter said the domiciliation of the network at ABU was because the university has the oldest and most efficient urban and planning department whose centre for spatial and information sciences has the potentials of becoming the preeminent national centre for urban management and city resilient knowledge for the country.
Take off of the network will be marked by a formative stakeholders workshop jointly organized by the duo of National Infrastructure Advisory Facility and ABU’s Directorate of University Advancement on  July 14, 2016.
