Speaking at the celebration in Abuja, Ambassador Valerii Vasyliev said the dynamic development of Ukraine-Nigeria trade and economic relations has a tendency of greater turnover.
“In 2012, it rose to $280 million and increased by 24% compared to the previous year. During the first seven months of this year, mutual trade turnover amounted to more than $200 millions, which exceeds last year’s result by 15%”, he said.
Considering Nigeria as one of its key partners in Africa, Ukraine is committed to further deepening existing ties at all levels. Both Ukraine and Nigeria continues to invest a lot of efforts into positive increase of this progress, he added.
“I am sure that the opportunities of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Nigeria are far from being exhausted. Powerful industrial and technological potentials of Ukraine can be very helpful to Nigeria in intensifying its industrial development, in particular, for the development of metallurgical branch, expansion of the electric power generating facilities network, development of transport infrastructure, food-processing and agricultural industry,” the envoy noted.
Vasyliev added Ukraine is positively considering the prospects of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, science and space exploration, culture, medicine and education with Nigeria.
