Special prayers were on Saturday conducted in Sokoto for peace, unity and development of the state and Nigeria at large.

The prayer session was organised by the descendants of Buhari Dan Shehu, the eldest son of Shehu bin Fodiyo to mark the 25th anniversary of Baraden Sokoto, Muhammadu Maccido, who is one of them.

The prayer was led by the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Malam Yahya na Malam Boyi at the Sokoto residence of late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki fondly called in the state as Gidan Miyati Allah.

Sultan Dasuki, who was also from the family, held the title of Baraden before becoming the Sultan.

The participants further prayed Allah to grant the celebrant good health, wisdom and the ability to continue to bring development to his people.

Speaking, Maccido’s cousin and Deputy Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in charge of intelligence and investigation, Ahmad Alhassan, described the celebrant as honest, patient, hardworking and philanthropist.

Maccido in an interview with newsmen thanked God who enabled him to achieve this feat in life.

A seasoned civil servant who had served the state and the nation meritoriously, Maccido retired as acting federal permanent secretary.
