A multi million naira ultra modern mosque built for Muslim faithfuls has been commissioned in Ajiyolo Ajikpome, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The mosque was inaugurated Saturday in an elaborate ceremony, which attracted Muslim Ummah and leaders from across the country.
While declaring the mosque open, the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, called on the people of the state to always reflect on the importance of unity, compassion and understanding for peaceful coexistence.
He urged them to imbibe the teaching and principle of the prophet of Allah, Prophet Muhammed (SAW), for an enduring unity to prevail among the people in the community.
The governor, who was represented by the governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, stressed the importance of living together in harmony, as a panacea for development.
“This edifice represents a symbol of an enduring strength of the community. Let us always reflect on the importance of unity, togetherness, compassion and understanding in our relationship as a people in guiding our love for the state,” Bello said.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the state Assembly, Aliyu Umar, prayed Allah to grant all the blessings inherent in the construction of such projects to the people who facilitated it for the Muslim Ummah in the community.
Also, the Auditor General (AG) of the state who hails from the town and invested a lot to build the mosque, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, said the building of the mosque was his idea of providing a place of worship to unite the people.
