UN appoints Ladan member of comtt. on environmental crimes

The United Nations Interregional Crime And Justice Research Institute, Italy (UNICRI) in Collaboration with the United Nations  Environment  Programme (UNEP), Kenya  has appointed Professor Mohammed Tawfiq Ladan as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee On Environmental Crimes.

This appointment dated 25th April, 2017 was in recognition of Professor Ladan’s expertise, significant commitment and contribution to the development of Environmental Rule of Law and in developing strategies to combat environmental crimes globally.

Prof. M.T. Ladan is a distinguished professor of law at the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with 30 years of teaching , research and postgraduate supervision experience . Ladan has over 15 years experience consulting for UN agencies, ECOWAS and federal ministries and agencies in Nigeria. Prof. Ladan served as a member of the UNEP Eminent Legal Experts on the mid-term review on UN Montevideo Programme IV in 2015 and on periodic review of environmental dispute settlement and avoidance in 2006-2007.

Ladan is a member of the ABU Senate, the Governing Board of the National Association of Law Teachers, World Commission and Academy on Environmental Law and World Jurist Association. He is also a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, USA, 1999-2000 and happily married with children.
