The United Nations Positive Livelihoods Award Centre (UN-POLAC) has honoured a pastoralist organisation, the Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation (FUDECO), for its contributions to peace building and nomadic education in the country.
Founder and Chairman of FUDECO, Sarli Sadu Nana, in a statement yesterday said the organisation would continue to campaign against hate speech, violence and other tendencies inimical to the development of the country.
The Director-General of UN-POLAC, Prof. Obong Halo B. Eton, who was represented by Dr. Z. A. Ogunsanya, during the award ceremony expressed the centre’s commitment to human rights and sustainable development.
He said, “The Human Rights Day also celebrates UN-POLAC’s recent achievements, including the launch of a comprehensive training programme for Certified Peace Advocates, which aims to equip individuals with essential tools to mediate conflicts and foster understanding within their communities.”
