Chibok community in Abuja has called on the United Nations to come to the aid of the Chibok nation and protect iot from “imminent annihilation” as the Federal Government of Nigeria has failed to protect the people or rescue the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram 81 days ago.
Chairman of Chibok community, Dr Bitrus Pogo who addressed an international press conference in Abuja, said there is a danger of famine in the area even as the insurgents are giving the Chibok villages warning of attack.
Dr Pogu said 90% of the attacks on Chibok and adjoining communities were carried out with advanced otice that were conveyed to security agents.
He said: “As a matter of urgency, we wish to alert the general public and the international community that after the attack on 4 villages of Kautikari, Nguradina, Kwada/Kaumutayahi and Kakulmari on Sunday 29th June, 2014, which recorded 105 deaths, the residents of Kautikari have received what the Boko Haram sect termed final notice to attack Kautikari again by advising residents to vacate the village or face total annihilation on their next attack which has been promptly reported to the security agencies.
“In the same vein, Kaya town in Damboa Local Governemaent Area attacked yesterday July 3, 2014 received a stern warning from the Boko Haram insurgents after the attack to vacate their town; given that they constitute an obstacle on their way to invading Chibok (Kibaku) Nation.
“There is also looming famine in the Chibok (Kibaku) Nation and environs as a result of the terrorists’ activities and other social/medical challenges due to the overcrowding of Chibok town by the mass influx of people from adjoining villages and Local government Areas.
“With this development, the Chibok (Kibaku) Nation wishes to categorically state that the inability or unwillingness of the Federal Government to provide adequate security to Chibok (Kibaku) Nation following the abduction of the girls leaves us with no option than to call on the United Nations to use its apparatus to come to our aid and protect us from the imminent annihilation as a people. “
Dr Pogu also called on the Federal government to negotiate with the Federal government to negotate with Boko Haram to secure the release of the girls.
