The French government received some encouraging news on Christmas Eve as the latest figures for the month of November show a dip in the number of people seeking jobs compared to October.
The respite came as the number of unemployed fell by 15,000 in November. This, after October witnessed a 42,000 increase in the number of those with no activity registering at employment centres.
The total number of those unemployed in metropolitan France still stands at 3.57 million, and despite the drop in November increased by 2.5 per cent.
